Key Responsibilities:

  • Online Mental Health Counseling: Conduct individual, couples, or family counseling sessions utilizing secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing technology, focusing on areas within your scope of practice and expertise.
  • Clinical Documentation: Maintain thorough, accurate, and confidential clinical records in compliance with HIPAA standards, state licensing board regulations, and ethical best practices.

  • Direct Fee Management: Establish your own session fees and manage the billing and payment collection process directly with your clients.

Requirements:

  • Education: Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling or a closely related counseling field (e.g., Clinical Mental Health Counseling) from a CACREP-accredited program or an equivalent program that fulfills the educational prerequisites for LMHC licensure in your state(s).
  • Licensure: Must possess a current, active, and unrestricted license to practice independently as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC, or equivalent state designation like LPC, LPCC) in at least one US state. You are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with all telehealth laws and regulations pertinent to the state(s) where you are licensed and the state(s) where your clients reside.
  • Experience: Demonstrated post-licensure clinical experience providing mental health assessment, diagnosis (as appropriate), treatment planning, and psychotherapy/counseling.
  • Telehealth Proficiency: Competence in using HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platforms and secure communication methods. Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) or practice management software is highly desirable.
  • Legal & Ethical Acumen: Strong understanding of HIPAA, state-specific laws impacting LMHCs and telehealth practice, and relevant professional codes of ethics (e.g., ACA, NBCC).
  • Professional Liability Insurance: Must carry and maintain adequate professional liability (malpractice) insurance.
  • Skills:
