Key Responsibilities:

• Telepsychiatry Services: Conduct thorough initial psychiatric evaluations and follow-up appointments via secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing. Formulate accurate diagnoses using DSM/ICD criteria.
• Medication Management: Develop, implement, and manage evidence-based psychopharmacological treatment plans. Prescribe medications judiciously and monitor patient response, adjusting treatment as necessary.
• Prescribing Compliance: Adhere strictly to all federal and state regulations regarding prescribing practices, including specific rules for telepsychiatry and the prescribing of controlled substances (requires active DEA registration).
• Clinical Documentation: Maintain high-quality, timely, and confidential electronic medical records (EMR) compliant with HIPAA, state medical board standards, and best practices in psychiatric documentation.
• Ethical & Legal Practice: Practice in accordance with the ethical principles of the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Psychiatric Association (APA), as well as all relevant state medical board regulations and federal laws.
• Client Communication: Effectively communicate diagnoses, treatment options, medication benefits and risks, and follow-up plans to patients in a clear and compassionate manner.
• (Optional) Collaboration: Collaborate with therapists and other healthcare providers involved in the patient's care, as appropriate and with patient consent, to ensure integrated treatment.

Requirements:

• Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
• Residency: Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in Psychiatry.
• Board Certification: Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) is strongly preferred, or applicant must be actively Board Eligible.
• Licensure: Must possess a current, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in at least one US state. Responsible for complying with all state medical board requirements and telehealth regulations for any state in which services are provided.
• DEA Registration: Must possess a current, active, unrestricted DEA registration to prescribe controlled substances.
• Experience: Demonstrated post-residency experience in outpatient psychiatric diagnosis, treatment, and psychopharmacology. Experience or formal training in telepsychiatry is highly advantageous.
• Telehealth Competency: Proficiency in using HIPAA-compliant EMR/EHR systems and video conferencing platforms suitable for medical practice. Strong understanding of telepsychiatry best practices and relevant regulations (e.g., Ryan Haight Act).
• Legal & Ethical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of HIPAA, state medical practice acts, telepsychiatry laws, prescribing regulations, and medical/psychiatric ethics (AMA/APA).
• Malpractice Insurance: Must maintain adequate medical malpractice insurance coverage.
