Key Responsibilities:

  • Remote Psychotherapy/Counseling: Provide expert individual, couples, or family therapy/counseling services (commensurate with your specific license scope, training, and expertise) via secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing.
  • Clinical Assessment & Treatment Planning: Conduct thorough clinical assessments, formulate diagnoses when appropriate and within your scope of practice, and develop collaborative, evidence-informed treatment plans tailored to client needs and goals.
  • Clinical Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, state licensing board requirements, and the ethical standards pertinent to your specific professional license.
  • Ethical & Legal Practice: Adhere strictly to the professional code of ethics corresponding to your specific license (e.g., APA, NASW, ACA, AAMFT), all applicable state licensing board regulations, and federal/state laws governing mental health practice and telehealth (including HIPAA).
  • Client Communication: Manage client communications effectively and professionally, including scheduling, responding to inquiries, and clearly explaining your therapeutic approach, confidentiality, fees, and practice policies.
  • Direct Fee Management: Establish your professional fees for therapy services and manage the billing and payment process directly with your clients.

Requirements:

  • Education: Possess a Master's or Doctoral degree in a recognized mental health field (e.g., Psychology, Clinical Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy) from an accredited institution, meeting the educational requirements for independent clinical licensure.
  • Licensure: Crucially, must possess a current, active, and unrestricted license for independent clinical practice in a mental health profession issued by a US state licensing board. Accepted licenses include, but are not limited to:
    • Licensed Psychologist (Doctoral Level - Ph.D. or Psy.D.)
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW / LICSW / LISW-CP)
    • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC / LMHC / LPCC)
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Independent Practice Status: Your license must permit you to practice independently without supervision.
  • Telehealth Compliance: Must understand and comply with all state laws and regulations regarding telehealth delivery for your specific license type in the state(s) where you are licensed and where clients reside.
  • Experience: Demonstrated post-licensure experience providing psychotherapy and/or counseling services.
  • Telehealth Competency: Proficiency in utilizing HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platforms and electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems. Understanding of telehealth best practices and ethics.
  • Legal & Ethical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of HIPAA, state laws governing your specific mental health profession and telehealth practice, and the ethical code applicable to your license.
  • Professional Liability Insurance: Must maintain active professional liability (malpractice) insurance covering your scope of practice, including telehealth services.
  • Skills:
