Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Remote Psychiatric Consultations: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, establish diagnoses (using ICD-10/11 or DSM-5), and develop holistic treatment plans for patients via secure video/audio consultations.
  • Medication Management & Prescription: Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications safely and ethically in accordance with the National Medical Commission's (NMC) Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020, the Mental Healthcare Act (MHCA), 2017, and other relevant Indian regulations.
  • Psychotherapy & Counselling: Provide supportive psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and counselling as part of the treatment plan, or collaborate with psychologists/counsellors for combined care.
  • Monitoring and Follow-up: Monitor patient progress, medication efficacy, and potential side effects through regular tele-follow-ups, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Record Keeping & Compliance: Maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential patient medical records in compliance with the MHCA 2017, NMC guidelines, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act), 2023, and other applicable laws.
  • Ethical Medical Practice: Adhere strictly to the ethical codes of conduct prescribed by the NMC, Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS), and other relevant professional and statutory bodies.
  • Emergency Management (Tele-Triage): Assess and manage psychiatric emergencies within the limitations of telepsychiatry, providing appropriate guidance, crisis intervention, and facilitating referrals for urgent in-person care when indicated.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other medical specialists, clinical psychologists, and counsellors (with patient consent) to ensure integrated and comprehensive patient care.

Essential Requirements:

  • Medical Registration: Current and valid registration as a medical practitioner with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or any State Medical Council in India.
  • Specialist Qualification in Psychiatry:
    • MD (Psychiatry) OR
    • DNB (Psychiatry) from an NMC-recognized institution.
    • (DPM - Diploma in Psychological Medicine - from an NMC-recognized institution with significant post-qualification experience may be considered, please specify in your application).
  • Experience: Proven post-specialization experience in clinical psychiatric practice in various settings in India.
  • Legal & Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding and commitment to comply with the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017; NMC's Telemedicine Practice Guidelines, 2020; the Drugs and Cosmetics Act & Rules (as applicable to prescriptions); and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
  • Right to Work: Must possess the legal right to work on a self-employed basis within India.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competence in using telehealth platforms, Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, and e-prescription practices (where applicable and compliant with guidelines).
  • Professional Environment: Access to a stable high-speed internet connection and a private, secure, and professional environment suitable for confidential teleconsultations.
  • Core Clinical Competencies: Strong diagnostic skills in psychiatry, expertise in psychopharmacology, ability to conduct risk assessments, crisis management skills adaptable to telehealth, excellent communication and interpersonal skills sensitive to diverse Indian cultural contexts.
