Key Responsibilities:

  • Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely case records and reports in compliance with professional ethics, the Mental Healthcare Act (MHCA), 2017, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act), 2023.
  • Advocacy and Empowerment: Advocate for clients' rights, promote their social inclusion, and empower them to participate actively in their recovery journey.
  • Ethical Practice: Adhere strictly to the code of ethics relevant to social work practice in mental health, and guidelines from professional bodies (e.g., Indian Society of Professional Social Work - ISPSW, if a member) and the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI, if registered).

Essential Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification:
    • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW / MA in Social Work) from a UGC-recognized university.
    • AND an M.Phil. in Psychiatric Social Work (full-time, 2 years) from an institution recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and, ideally, by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
  • Experience: Proven post-qualification (post M.Phil. PSW) experience in providing psychiatric social work services in diverse mental health settings (e.g., hospitals, clinics, community mental health programs, NGOs).
  • RCI Registration: Current registration as a Psychiatric Social Worker with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) is highly preferred and may be required for certain functions to align with the MHCA 2017 definition of a "Mental Health Professional." Please state your RCI registration status (CRR number if applicable).
  • Legal & Ethical Knowledge: Sound understanding of the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017, principles of social work ethics in mental health, client rights, confidentiality, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
  • Right to Work: Must possess the legal right to work on a self-employed basis within India.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competence in using telehealth platforms for consultations, digital record-keeping, and communication.
