Mentalzon.com is a modern online platform connecting families and students with qualified specialists in learning, development, and school-related well-being. We are seeking experienced Educational Psychologists in Malaysia to provide expert consultation, assessment, and intervention services remotely. Our mission is to empower practitioners to build a flexible private practice while helping students overcome learning barriers and achieve their full potential.

The Opportunity:

This is a unique opportunity for Educational Psychologists in Malaysia to apply their specialised skills outside of a traditional institutional setting. Manage your own schedule, work from any location, and connect directly with parents and students seeking support for learning difficulties, academic stress, and other educational challenges. Build a rewarding practice focused on direct impact and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Psychoeducational Consultation: Conduct online sessions with parents to help them understand their child's learning profile, developmental needs, and specific learning difficulties.
  • Design and Deliver Learning Interventions: Create and implement evidence-based, one-on-one remote intervention programs for students struggling with issues such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, attention difficulties (e.g., ADHD), or general study skills.
  • Conduct Educational Assessments: Perform remote assessments using a combination of clinical interviews, validated online tools, and guided observations to identify students' cognitive strengths and weaknesses and inform intervention planning.
  • Support for School-Related Issues: Provide counselling and strategies for students dealing with exam anxiety, low motivation, perfectionism, and social challenges at school.
  • Parent and School Liaison Support: Advise and empower parents on how to communicate effectively and collaborate with their child's school to advocate for appropriate support and accommodations.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualification: A Master's Degree in Educational Psychology, School Psychology, or a closely related field from a recognised university.
  • Professional Standing: Must possess qualifications that meet the criteria for registration as a "Psychologist" under the Allied Health Professions Act 2016 (Act 774). Current registration with the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council (MAHPC), where applicable, is a significant advantage.
  • Experience: Demonstrable post-qualification experience working with children and adolescents with learning, behavioural, and developmental difficulties.
  • Assessment Skills: Proficiency in administering and interpreting a range of psychoeducational assessment tools. Experience adapting assessment methods for a telehealth context is highly desirable.
  • Right to Work: Must have the legal right to work on a self-employed basis in Malaysia.
  • Setup: Access to a reliable, high-speed internet connection and a private, confidential space suitable for conducting remote sessions and assessments.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Membership in relevant national or international psychological associations.
  • Specific training in evidence-based interventions for learning disorders.
  • Experience providing parent training and workshops.
  • Previous experience in private practice and/or telehealth.

Conditions of Engagement (Self-Employed Basis):

  • Flexibility: You have complete control over your working hours, from a few hours per week to a full-time caseload.
  • Autonomy: Freedom to use your professional judgment and preferred evidence-based methods.
  • Direct Compensation: Set your own competitive hourly rates for consultation, assessment, and intervention. You receive payments directly from clients with no platform commission.
  • Location Independence: Deliver your specialised services to families across Malaysia, regardless of their location.
  • Client Access: Benefit from our platform's marketing to connect with clients actively seeking educational psychology services.

How to Join Mentalzon:

  1. Create Your Profile: Register as a specialist on Mentalzon.com, highlighting your Master's degree, areas of expertise in educational psychology, and experience.

If you are considering psychotherapy but do not know where to start, a free initial consultation is the perfect first step. It will allow you to explore your options, ask questions, and feel more confident about taking the first step towards your well-being.

It is a 30-minute, completely free meeting with a Mental Health specialist that does not obligate you to anything.

What are the benefits of a free consultation?

Who is a free consultation suitable for?

Important:

Potential benefits of a free initial consultation

During this first session: potential clients have the chance to learn more about you and your approach before agreeing to work together.

Offering a free consultation will help you build trust with the client. It shows them that you want to give them a chance to make sure you are the right person to help them before they move forward. Additionally, you should also be confident that you can support your clients and that the client has problems that you can help them cope with. Also, you can avoid any ethical difficult situations about charging a client for a session in which you choose not to proceed based on fit.

We've found that people are more likely to proceed with therapy after a free consultation, as it lowers the barrier to starting the process. Many people starting therapy are apprehensive about the unknown, even if they've had sessions before. Our culture associates a "risk-free" mindset with free offers, helping people feel more comfortable during the initial conversation with a specialist.

Another key advantage for Specialist

Specialists offering free initial consultations will be featured prominently in our upcoming advertising campaign, giving you greater visibility.

It's important to note that the initial consultation differs from a typical therapy session:
