Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Remote Psychotherapy with Children & Adolescents: Provide evidence-based online therapy for a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, behavioural disorders, trauma, and adjustment difficulties, using age-appropriate techniques (e.g., adapted play therapy, talk therapy).
  • Provide Parent-Focused Interventions and Guidance: Deliver parent management training and support sessions to empower parents with strategies to manage their child's behaviour and support their emotional well-being.
  • Perform Psychological Assessments: Conduct clinical interviews and administer remote-appropriate psychological and developmental assessments to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate and Consult: Liaise with other professionals involved in the child's care, such as schools, paediatricians, and psychiatrists, with appropriate parental consent.
  • Maintain Professional Standards: Uphold the highest standards of ethical practice as outlined by the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology (MSCP) and the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council (MAHPC).

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualification: A Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from a recognized and accredited university.
  • Registration: Must be a fully registered Clinical Psychologist with the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council (MAHPC) under the Allied Health Professions Act 2016 (Act 774).
  • Practicing Certificate: Must possess a current and valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) issued by the MAHPC.
  • Specialized Experience: Significant, demonstrable post-qualification experience providing psychotherapy and psychological assessment specifically to children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Right to Work: Must have the legal right to work on a self-employed basis in Malaysia.
  • Telehealth Competency: Proficiency in adapting therapeutic and assessment techniques for a remote setting and engaging young clients via video platforms.
  • Setup: Access to a reliable, high-speed internet connection and a private, confidential space suitable for conducting remote therapy sessions.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Full membership with the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology (MSCP).
  • Additional certifications or advanced training in play therapy, family therapy, or specific child-focused modalities like CBT or ACT for children.
  • Experience working with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
