Mentalzon.com is a modern telehealth platform that connects families of individuals with autism and other developmental challenges to qualified and experienced behavioral therapists. We are seeking compassionate and skilled therapists in Malaysia to provide remote parent training, program supervision, and support. Our mission is to make evidence-based behavioral therapy more accessible, empowering families to help their loved ones thrive.

The Opportunity:

This is a unique opportunity for certified behavioral therapists to build a flexible and impactful private practice online. Move beyond traditional, in-person therapy to a scalable model of parent/caregiver coaching and program supervision. Manage your own schedule, work from anywhere in Malaysia, and apply your expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or similar evidence-based methods to create lasting change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Supervise Behavioral Intervention Programs: Develop individualized intervention plans based on the principles of ABA to teach new skills (e.g., communication, social, self-help) and reduce challenging behaviors.
  • Provide Parent and Caregiver Training: This is the core of the role. Coach and empower parents and caregivers via video call to effectively implement behavioral strategies and teaching procedures in the child's natural environment.
  • Conduct Remote Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA): Utilize remote methods, such as structured interviews and analysis of videos and data provided by the family, to understand the function of challenging behaviors.
  • Monitor Progress Through Data Analysis: Guide families in collecting data, and use this data to analyze the effectiveness of the intervention plan, making data-driven adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain Professional and Ethical Standards: Ensure all services are provided in a manner consistent with the ethical codes of your certifying body (e.g., the BACB's Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts).

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualification: A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Psychology, Special Education, or a related human services field.
  • Specialized Certification: Must hold a current and valid certification from a recognized, reputable body in an evidence-based behavioral intervention. The premier certifications are from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB):
    • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA®)
    • Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA®)
  • Experience: Significant hands-on experience in designing and implementing ABA programs for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other developmental disabilities.
  • Parent Training Experience: Demonstrable experience in training and coaching parents or caregivers to implement intervention plans.
  • Right to Work: Must have the legal right to work on a self-employed basis in Malaysia.
  • Setup: Access to a reliable, high-speed internet connection and a private, confidential space suitable for conducting professional remote sessions.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience with specific assessment tools (e.g., VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS).
  • Experience working across different age groups (e.g., early intervention, adolescents, adults).
  • For those with a psychology degree, registration with a professional body like MAHPC is an advantage.

Conditions of Engagement (Self-Employed Basis):

  • Flexibility: You have complete control over your working hours and caseload.
  • Scalable Model: Focus on the high-impact work of supervision and parent training, which allows you to support more families.
  • Direct Compensation: Set your own competitive rates for consultation, program development, and supervision packages. You receive payments directly from clients with no platform commission.
  • Location Independence: Provide your highly specialised services to families anywhere in Malaysia.

How to Join Mentalzon:

  1. Create Your Profile: Register as a specialist on Mentalzon.com, highlighting your degree and, most importantly, your professional certification (e.g., BCBA).

If you are considering psychotherapy but do not know where to start, a free initial consultation is the perfect first step. It will allow you to explore your options, ask questions, and feel more confident about taking the first step towards your well-being.

It is a 30-minute, completely free meeting with a Mental Health specialist that does not obligate you to anything.

What are the benefits of a free consultation?

Who is a free consultation suitable for?

Important:

Potential benefits of a free initial consultation

During this first session: potential clients have the chance to learn more about you and your approach before agreeing to work together.

Offering a free consultation will help you build trust with the client. It shows them that you want to give them a chance to make sure you are the right person to help them before they move forward. Additionally, you should also be confident that you can support your clients and that the client has problems that you can help them cope with. Also, you can avoid any ethical difficult situations about charging a client for a session in which you choose not to proceed based on fit.

We've found that people are more likely to proceed with therapy after a free consultation, as it lowers the barrier to starting the process. Many people starting therapy are apprehensive about the unknown, even if they've had sessions before. Our culture associates a "risk-free" mindset with free offers, helping people feel more comfortable during the initial conversation with a specialist.

Another key advantage for Specialist

Specialists offering free initial consultations will be featured prominently in our upcoming advertising campaign, giving you greater visibility.

It's important to note that the initial consultation differs from a typical therapy session:
