We are seeking experienced Occupational or Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychologists in Malaysia to provide high-level coaching and consultation services directly to clients.

The Opportunity:

This is a unique opportunity for I-O Psychologists to apply their deep understanding of workplace dynamics and human behaviour in a new, direct-to-client model. Move beyond traditional corporate consulting to empower individuals one-on-one. Build a flexible and rewarding private practice by helping people with career development, job search strategies, leadership skills, and managing workplace stress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Career Development Coaching: Conduct one-on-one sessions to help clients identify their career goals, recognize their strengths, overcome professional hurdles, and create actionable plans for advancement.
  • Offer Job Search and Interview Coaching: Leverage your "insider" knowledge of corporate recruitment to assist clients with CV and resume enhancement, interview preparation (including behavioural and competency-based interviews), and personal branding.
  • Coach on Workplace Dynamics and Well-being: Provide clients with evidence-based strategies for managing workplace stress, preventing burnout, navigating difficult interpersonal dynamics with colleagues or superiors, and improving work-life balance.
  • Deliver Leadership and Performance Coaching: Work with new and aspiring leaders, managers, and high-potential employees to develop their leadership style, communication skills, and team management capabilities.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualification: A Master's Degree in Occupational Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Work Psychology, or a closely related field from a recognised university.
  • Professional Standing: Must possess qualifications that meet the criteria for registration as a "Psychologist" under the Allied Health Professions Act 2016 (Act 774). Current registration with the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council (MAHPC), where applicable, is a significant advantage.
  • Experience: Demonstrable experience in the field of I-O psychology, for example in human resources, organizational development, talent management, corporate training, or business consulting.
  • Coaching Acumen: A strong ability to translate organizational psychology principles into practical, individualised coaching and advice.

Desirable Requirements:

  • A professional coaching certification (e.g., from the International Coaching Federation - ICF).
  • Direct experience in corporate recruitment, talent assessment, or psychometric testing.
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations such as the Malaysian Psychological Association (PSIMA).
  • Experience in a corporate leadership or management role.

Conditions of Engagement (Self-Employed Basis):

  • Flexibility: You have complete control over your working hours and client load.
  • Innovative Practice: Apply your skills in a new and in-demand market, directly impacting individuals' careers.
  • Direct Compensation: Set your own professional rates for coaching and consultation packages. You receive payments directly from clients with no platform commission.
  • Location Independence: Coach clients from across Malaysia and the region from your home or private office.
  • Build Your Brand: Establish yourself as an expert career and workplace coach.

How to Join Mentalzon:

  1. Create Your Profile: Register as a specialist on Mentalzon.com, highlighting your Master's degree and your expertise in occupational psychology and coaching.
  2. Upload Documents: Provide copies of your relevant qualifications (Master's Degree) and proof of any professional registrations for verification.
  3. Await Verification: Allow our administrative team time to review and approve your credentials.

If you are considering psychotherapy but do not know where to start, a free initial consultation is the perfect first step. It will allow you to explore your options, ask questions, and feel more confident about taking the first step towards your well-being.

It is a 30-minute, completely free meeting with a Mental Health specialist that does not obligate you to anything.

What are the benefits of a free consultation?

Who is a free consultation suitable for?

Important:

Potential benefits of a free initial consultation

During this first session: potential clients have the chance to learn more about you and your approach before agreeing to work together.

Offering a free consultation will help you build trust with the client. It shows them that you want to give them a chance to make sure you are the right person to help them before they move forward. Additionally, you should also be confident that you can support your clients and that the client has problems that you can help them cope with. Also, you can avoid any ethical difficult situations about charging a client for a session in which you choose not to proceed based on fit.

We've found that people are more likely to proceed with therapy after a free consultation, as it lowers the barrier to starting the process. Many people starting therapy are apprehensive about the unknown, even if they've had sessions before. Our culture associates a "risk-free" mindset with free offers, helping people feel more comfortable during the initial conversation with a specialist.

Another key advantage for Specialist

Specialists offering free initial consultations will be featured prominently in our upcoming advertising campaign, giving you greater visibility.

It's important to note that the initial consultation differs from a typical therapy session:
