Mentalzon.com is a specialized online platform dedicated to the connection between mental and physical well-being. We connect individuals navigating health challenges with qualified Health Psychologists who provide expert support and guidance. We are seeking experienced Health Psychologists in Malaysia to join our network and offer their specialized services remotely.

The Opportunity:

This is a unique opportunity for Health Psychologists to build a flexible and impactful private practice. Apply your expertise in the biopsychosocial model to help clients cope with chronic illness, adopt healthier behaviours, and improve their overall quality of life. Manage your own schedule, work from anywhere in Malaysia, and provide vital support to a growing population in need of specialized health-related psychological care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Psychological Support for Chronic Illness: Conduct online sessions to help clients emotionally and psychologically adjust to and manage chronic health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, chronic pain, and autoimmune disorders.
  • Deliver Health and Wellness Coaching: Utilize evidence-based techniques (like Motivational Interviewing) to help clients with health behaviour change, including smoking cessation, weight management, medication adherence, and developing sustainable exercise habits.
  • Facilitate Stress Management for Health-Related Issues: Teach clients psychological strategies (e.g., mindfulness, relaxation techniques, cognitive-behavioural skills) to manage the stress, anxiety, and depression that can accompany or exacerbate physical health problems.
  • Offer Support for Caregivers: Provide counselling and coping strategies for family members and caregivers of individuals with significant health conditions, helping them to manage their own stress and well-being.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualification: A Master's Degree in Health Psychology. Alternatively, a Master's in Clinical Psychology or Counselling with a significant, demonstrable specialization and supervised experience in a health psychology setting will be considered.
  • Professional Standing: Must possess qualifications that meet the criteria for registration as a "Psychologist" under the Allied Health Professions Act 2016 (Act 774). Current registration with the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council (MAHPC), where applicable, is a significant advantage.
  • Experience: Demonstrable post-qualification experience working in health psychology settings (e.g., hospitals, primary care clinics, pain management centres). Essential experience includes helping clients manage chronic illnesses and/or make significant health behaviour changes.
  • Right to Work: Must have the legal right to work on a self-employed basis in Malaysia.
  • Setup: Access to a reliable, high-speed internet connection and a private, confidential space suitable for conducting professional remote sessions.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary medical team (with doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, etc.).
  • Advanced training in specific therapeutic approaches relevant to health, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for chronic pain, or mindfulness-based interventions.
  • Membership in relevant national or international health psychology associations.

Conditions of Engagement (Self-Employed Basis):

  • Flexibility: You have complete control over your working hours and caseload.
  • Specialized Practice: Attract clients who are specifically seeking expert support for their health-related psychological needs.
  • Direct Compensation: Set your own professional rates for coaching and consultation. You receive payments directly from clients with no platform commission.
  • Increased Accessibility: Offer your vital services to clients who may have mobility issues or live far from specialized healthcare facilities.

How to Join Mentalzon:

  1. Create Your Profile: Register as a specialist on Mentalzon.com, highlighting your Master's degree in Health Psychology and your specific areas of expertise.
  2. Upload Documents: Provide copies of your relevant qualifications (Master's Degree) and proof of any professional registrations for verification.
  3. Await Verification: Allow our administrative team time to review and approve your credentials.
  4. Define Your Services: Specify your available hours and describe the services you offer (e.g., chronic pain support, diabetes management coaching, caregiver support).
  5. Engage with Clients: Start receiving inquiries from individuals and families seeking your specialized support.

If you are considering psychotherapy but do not know where to start, a free initial consultation is the perfect first step. It will allow you to explore your options, ask questions, and feel more confident about taking the first step towards your well-being.

It is a 30-minute, completely free meeting with a Mental Health specialist that does not obligate you to anything.

What are the benefits of a free consultation?

Who is a free consultation suitable for?

Important:

Potential benefits of a free initial consultation

During this first session: potential clients have the chance to learn more about you and your approach before agreeing to work together.

Offering a free consultation will help you build trust with the client. It shows them that you want to give them a chance to make sure you are the right person to help them before they move forward. Additionally, you should also be confident that you can support your clients and that the client has problems that you can help them cope with. Also, you can avoid any ethical difficult situations about charging a client for a session in which you choose not to proceed based on fit.

We've found that people are more likely to proceed with therapy after a free consultation, as it lowers the barrier to starting the process. Many people starting therapy are apprehensive about the unknown, even if they've had sessions before. Our culture associates a "risk-free" mindset with free offers, helping people feel more comfortable during the initial conversation with a specialist.

Another key advantage for Specialist

Specialists offering free initial consultations will be featured prominently in our upcoming advertising campaign, giving you greater visibility.

It's important to note that the initial consultation differs from a typical therapy session:
